João is a young man proud of his roots. How could he not be? From Bajouca is where he shows himself to the world and it is the world that teaches him the beauty of Bajouca every time he’s brought back home.
He studied Communication, Design and Multimedia at ESEC, Coimbra, until 2017. It was at that time that his taste for playing with shapes, images and cartoons joined forces with his personal experiences in order to create these expressive compositions, sometimes in the form of posters, other times as illustrations or even applied in handicrafts.
He aspires to continue creating and engaging in urban spaces, where he is inspired by the use of unusual materials and how the representation of a painting on a wall interacts and connects the space, the environment and the public.
It’s the experimentation that guides him, and, far beyond the format, his work is based on surrealism and the deformation of the human figure.
